St. Rita's Feast Day

Known as the patron saint of the impossible, St. Rita of Cascia is the namesake of Strita DTLA.  She is celebrated for her perseverance in overcoming heartbreaking life circumstances and fulfilling her lifelong dream of entering the convent.  Throughout history, women have prayed to her when in seemingly impossible situations for the strength and tenacity to get through them.

In honor of her feast day, May 22nd, Strita DTLA made a commitment to assist organizations who help empower and support women. We will continue this commitment on the 22nd of every month, whether it be mobilizing ourselves and the community to donate our time, material possessions, or offer monetary support.

For May, we are worked with LA’s Downtown Women’s Center to collect donations of their most needed items. Founded in 1978, the Downtown Women’s Center is the only organization in Los Angeles exclusively dedicated to addressing the needs of the women overcoming poverty and homelessness in Skid Row.

We gathered bags of clothes, shoes, toiletries, and an entire box of brand new makeup (donated by byrdie) to the shelter last week.
